Grandpa Don celebrates 75 years!

Erik's Dad celebrated a milestone birthday on 7/28!  75 years young and doing just great.  Erik and his mom and sister secretly rented Don's dream car (Chevy Corvette Stingray) for the day so he could cruise around town in style.  All the grandkids loved taking rides.  We had so much fun celebrating this special guy.  Happiest of birthdays to Don!

 

Six Flags!

We found an open day to head up to Six Flags for a day of roller coasters!  We had some friends join us to double the fun.  We lucked out with the weather and the crowds.  The day began a little rainy, which kept the crowds away, but by the time we drove up and got into the park, the rain had stopped and we had a really pleasant day.  Loads of fun with no lines!

A Visit from the Schouten Crew

We were so happy to welcome our old neighbors back to the block for a visit!  We loved having the Schouten family next door when we moved here in 2015.  We were so sad to see them go when they had to move back to The Netherlands last year!  But they promised to visit, and here they are.  What a fun evening spent with forever friends.

Lazy Summer Fun

Cassie took part in a summer play - she was "Rolf" in The Sound of Music.  She did an amazing job with her song!  (I am sixteen, going on seventeen...so cute!)

It's not summer without a lemonade stand!  They made use of a busy corner and made $42!  They decided to send half the earnings to St. Jude, and split the rest. Love these sweet boys.

Birthday Pals

Cassie and one of her best friends have birthdays just one day apart.  And they are like peas in a pod, sharing so many interests and hobbies.  So most years, they plan a joint birthday celebration with all of their girls in their class at school.  This year, they opted for an outdoor party with a giant inflatable water slide.  It was held at her friend's house (not sure how I lucked out there?!) and between the 4 parents, the prep work was pretty light!  It's a sweet group of girls that are easy to entertain.  We are so happy that Cassie has formed such strong friendships with these lovely girls and we're so happy they had fun celebrating each other!
